The 24-48 Hour Window

Mold spores are present almost everywhere, but they remain dormant until they hit moisture. Once a surface (drywall, wood, carpet) becomes wet:

• Germination: Mold can begin to grow within 24 to 48 hours.
• Colony Formation: Within 3 to 12 days, the mold colonizes and becomes visible.
• Spore Release: Once established, the mold begins releasing spores into the air, which can spread the problem to other parts of the house through your HVAC system.
